It was mandated in the Election Manifesto to provide 4-Lane connectivity in Western Odisha and KBK Districts of the State. Honble Chief Minister has lunched this road corridor as Biju Expressway connecting Rourkela to Jagdalpur for a length of 650.64 km. This road connects 8 Districts i.e Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur & Koraput. Out of 650.64Km, 183.20Km is National Highways which is being developed by NHAI & State NH wing.

By the end of 2016-17, a length of 162 km from Rourkela to Sambalpur for is nearing completion under PPP Mode with Project Cost of Rs.1210Crore.

Balance, 305.44Km is being developed by State Government. Stater Government has approved Rs. 3630 Crore for development of this corridor. The work from from Sohella-Padampur-Nuapada-Sinapalli-Dharmagarh & Ampani is going on in full swing. By the end of 2016-17, 48Km between Sohella to Nuapada has been completed. It has been targeted for completion of this corridor by 2019.

There is Budget provision of Rs.180Crore during 2017-18 for onging projects,Land Acquisition & to take up balance length to make the corridor to 4-Lane configuration.
